Building Wealth: A Journey of Stewardship, Discipline, and Faith.
Building wealth is a goal that many people strive for, but it can often seem like an impossible dream. However, with the right mindset and habits, anyone can begin to create and grow their wealth. At the heart of this journey are three key principles: stewardship, discipline, and faith.
Stewardship
Stewardship is the responsible management of something that has been entrusted to your care. In the context of building wealth, this means taking care of your resources and using them wisely. This includes earning, saving, investing, and giving.
The Bible has much to say about stewardship, including this verse: "Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful" (1 Corinthians 4:2, KJV). As stewards of our wealth, we are called to be faithful with what we have been given. This means being intentional with our spending, saving a portion of our income, and using our resources to make a positive impact in the world.
Discipline
Discipline is the ability to control our actions and behaviors, even when it's difficult. When it comes to building wealth, discipline is essential in order to create and stick to a plan for our finances. This may include setting financial goals, creating a budget, and making regular contributions to savings and investment accounts.
The Bible speaks to the importance of discipline, as seen in this verse: "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world" (Titus 2:11 12, KJV). By exercising discipline in our financial habits, we can live in a way that is honorable to God and sets a positive example for others.
Faith
Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). When it comes to building wealth, faith plays a vital role in helping us to persevere through challenges and setbacks. It also helps us to maintain a long term perspective, recognizing that wealth is not just about accumulating resources, but about using them to make a difference in the world.
One of the most well known verses about faith is this one: "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:5 6, KJV). When we trust in God and acknowledge Him in all our financial decisions, He will guide us on the path to building wealth that is honoring to Him.
Conclusion
Building wealth is a journey that requires a combination of stewardship, discipline, and faith. By being intentional with our resources, exercising discipline in our financial habits, and trusting in God to guide us, we can create and grow wealth that makes a positive impact in the world.
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33, KJV). As we prioritize seeking God's kingdom and righteousness, He will provide for our needs and help us to build wealth that honors Him.
